Bathroom light

So we rent our flat and the bathroom light has gone. I've tried to take the cover off but to no avail. Messaged the caretaker repeatedly (and called repeatedly) over the last few days and no response so I'm here for help. ..does anyone recognise the light fitting and could advise me how to remove it? There's no screws, no notch, it won't twist so I am completely baffled.

Thanks in advance.

Does the glass twist in any way and the come off?

felinelucky · 07/05/2021 21:53

Yeah, I'd try twisting it to see if it unscrews.

LIZS · 07/05/2021 21:56

They normally twist off or there maybe a couple of lugs.

PigletJohn · 07/05/2021 21:57

The second picture looks different to the first.

It is a common drum light.

You feel round the join where the opal shade is clipped onto the black base. When you find a slot, put the handle of a teaspoon in it, and twist. The shade will fall off, and crack when it hits the floor.

For a long time they were a budget bathroom or outdoor lamp at places like Screwfix. Seem to be discontinued now and there are LED lamps instead.

IIRC it has a heat-resistant white ceramic bulb holder, and takes an Edison screw lamp. There is a loosely fitted polished aluminium reflector above the bulb.

Currently available replacements here

May also be listed as a "bulkhead light"

@PigletJohn The teaspoon worked! Thanks so much for all your help.
