Hi, not sure if this is the right place to post, but hoping someone might have some advice.

We accepted an offer on our house back in February this year. Things moved slowly with the buyer but then seemed to pick up in March/April. All seemed to be going well... until it came to exchanging. We have had promise after promise of exchange for weeks until last week the buyer's solicitor has said they have the deposit and contract in hand but are waiting for the buyer's lender's solicitor to approve they will be able to release funds by the completion date (2 weeks away).

Is this a thing?? I thought after being given a mortgage offer, it is more of a formality to give the completion date to the lender. I've been doing some research on other threads and it does seem that this asking if funds will be available in time is something that happened when covid first hit, but is this still a thing now? Anyone else in the same situation and had a positive outcome? How long do we wait?

Sorry of this doesn't make sense- my brain is so scrambled from the stress!

Banks used to require four weeks between exchange and completion but this seems to have changed. But it sounds legitimate, though you'd think they would have already sorted the time needed.
