Hello,

Can you knock internal walls down when the house is on a leasehold not freehold? And change windows and front door etc?

You need permission for everything as you don't own the flat, just rent it for a very long time. Some charge for permission, others don't. I have done everything to my flat including reconfigure the whole place and the builders wouldn't touch it without confirmation of freeholder permission. Thankfully my freeholder was more than happy for me to do the works I wanted to do.

Check the terms of the lease, if it’s leasehold house then you can probably make internal changes but need to ask before extending. That’s how my leasehold house works.

Ok thank you! It's a house not flat, we're wanting to knock the wall through from kitchen to dining room so will query if it's ok 👍🏼☺️

That's good of your builders to insist. I would've thought they'd just be happy to do the job and be paid, as it surely doesn't come back on them, does it?
