Just moved house. We have 6 of these interspersed randomly along the top of a window. They are screwed into the window frame and the wall. They're only on one window but we don't know what they are or if we can just unscrew them to decorate. Any help would be gratefully received! Thanks

They are curtain rail brackets which you just unscrew

Thank you! We were worried they were somehow load bearing!

They look like they’re embedded in the ceiling though! Odd. But yes, curtain rail brackets.

The whole house has many random things like this! They aren't evenly spaced either!

As PPs said, curtain rail brackets. It looks like your window frame is metal so they wouldn't have withstood the weight of curtains hence they've screwed them into the ceiling!

Thank you!
