Rubbish Collectors

I had no idea rubbish removal is so expensive! Been quoted between £300 - £700 to remove ripped out bathroom and kitchen, wall paper (in black bags), used plaster bags and general refurbishment debris.

Anyone know a reasonable rubbish removal outfit in London? Your practically paying for rubbish lol.

I wish I knew someone with an estate car so.i could take it to the dump myself at no cost.

Unless you are prepared to sort it all out into recyclable /non-recyclable, and then arrange for it to be taking to the dump, you're paying for the lot to go to landfill, which is expensive. Rubbish collection is expensive, especially in London, but please don't be tempted by a dubiously low offer to take it off your hands, as it will certainly be fly-tipped somewhere.

Try Junk Monkey, based in Battersea. I used them a few years ago.

Junk Monkey prices - seem still to be reasonable

Would a skip or hippo bag not be cheaper?

weareallpassengers · 30/04/2021 07:03

Is the bathroom or kitchen reuseable. .sell or Freecycle?

Anjo2011 · 30/04/2021 12:39

Can’t you hire a skip and put it in there? You will need to check with the hire company what can and can’t go in . We finished a kitchen renovation last week, we had a skip on our drive for six weeks, it was around £300 plus vat. They took everything except old fridge and freezer as they need to be disposed of in a different way.

Thanks for all the advice guys. I'll try calling the company In battersea today. I think a hippo bag won't be enough. Don't want a skip to stick around as cheeky neighbours have started adding their rubbish to mine on my drive!!

Anjo, do you have the name of the skip firm? I'll check if they can take it away on the same day. Thanks

I've used AnyJunk.co.uk twice and they were very efficient and reasonable.

Hire a van for the day and take to the tip? Need to check your local tip conditions, vans need a permit at ours.

ilovesouthlondon · 01/05/2021 19:18

The tip won't allow vans (this is the problem) because of covid. You can only come in a car so that would take ages. Thanks catchyjem, I'll try anything too x
