House alarm recommendation

We are going to do a rewire and at the same time would like to replace our rubbish alarm system. Does anyone have good experiences with an alarm system which is NOT maintained by a company that they can recommend? Maybe @pigletjohn has a preference?

People who do alarms seem to like Texecom now.

I formerly had a Galaxy (professional system) but the maintenance company modernised it to (I think) Texecom Premier Elite. It is monitored and police-registered, but I believe they are widely fitted by local installers.

If you buy an alarm, specify, prior to signing the contract, that you want ownership of the Engineer and Manager codes.

Some sleazy companies retain these, and charge you to change them if you want to cancel your maintenance contract. You, or any future maintainer, needs these codes.

Has anyone used verisure?

Verified are overpriced and blatantly lie to your face about the quality of their system

Verisure
