Give me your dream Kitchen Colour Combination

We will be installing a dream kitchen.
It will be a shaker style kitchen with island.
It will be big and beautiful - so a one time only opportunity to get this right.

I drool over the Tom Howley kitchens and the paint pallets, I want to try and avoid grey but my initial combination is coming up as quite grey.

It can be in any colour combination.

I was thinking one colour for the base and wall units and another darker colour for the island.

Can you give me your dream colour combinations, please.

If I'm not worried about selling in the immediate future - I'd choose light bluey green units and then a medium tone of the same colour for the island (not trendy navy or dark green). The exact shade of the duck egg/teal blue would depend on what way the kitchen faced and how much light there was (as I might have to go cooler or warmer toned depending on that).

But I don't know if Tom Howley does two tones of the same colour? (The Iris colour does look pretty though, I suppose you could pair it with a Periwinkle Island although both colours are more blue than I had in mind).

My favourite thing about bluey greens (or greeney blues!) is that they are a more interesting "neutral" - inoffensive and will work with a wide variety of contrasting cool or warm shades (from yellow/golds, to silvers/greys to pinks or orange tones) so you can easily blend them into other decor.

bravotango · 28/04/2021 16:19

I love the soft neutrals for kitchens - an off white that is almost sage for the units, and black (I know! but looks amazing) for the island. White quartz/stone tops.

carmichaelisH · 28/04/2021 16:34

I agree with @IamnotwhouthinkIam, a blue/green/grey with white quartz is stylish and understated.
Have a look at F&B Light Blue.

Probably wouldn't have said I'd liked it until I saw it, but the kitchen in my new place has a medium warm wood units with a vibrant green countertops - not quite fake granite looking, but a similar speckled with grey patterns in it with warm off-white walls and slightly speckled, almost greige-white tiles that are a bit darker than the walls.

I'm not really one who likes being in the kitchen much and as I said I probably wouldn't have picked those from a catalog, but they work well together to me. Maybe a spin around Pinterest or similar can help give other colour combinations that you've not yet thought of?

Mustardy yellow walls. Teal bottom cupboards. Wooden worktops, with a marble section inset for pastry work. Open shelves above worktops.

Checkingout811 · 28/04/2021 17:09

Mine is biscuit and navy with oak worktops.
Only the island units are in navy. It’s shaker style.

I think most people would hate mine Grin but I want a sleek, gloss, handleless, champagne/cashmere units with corian off-white counters.

StrikingMatches · 28/04/2021 17:12

If I were to change mine I'd go for this. I think this actual one might be Neptune but something similar can be achieved for a fraction of the cost of a Neptune kitchen!

I'm just having mine installed at the moment and it's a cornflour blue with white glitter quartz. Excuse the mess as I'm putting things away but this is it so far in its unfinished state. I'm also having a shelf installed above the sink. And I have a larder the other side of the room.

That sounds beautiful! I must not be distracted, I must not be distracted....

My dream kitchen is satin off white doors and units, oak worktops, and sea glass green glass tiles (I saw them in a tiny kitchen on The Great British Interior Design Challenge and the designer Oliver something used them. I follow him on Instagram and asked him where they were from be he never replied sob )

One day I will persuade DH that we need a kitchen like this.

Loving your ideas
Some of the colour combinations that I am mulling over are

Elephant Breath and Charleston Grey
Cornforth White and Hauge blue
Joa's White and London Stone
Oxford Stone and off-black

I don't think I am brave enough for Peignoir and Pelt but might do that in a bathroom.

Floors will be a herringbone mid oak and there is a bit of bare brick in the sun room.

We have an ammonite main run and a black island. Looks amazing.

StatisticallyChallenged · 28/04/2021 20:53

Mine would be purples - depending on the room maybe a lighter version would be something like Brassica paired with a pale grey/off white, or in a room which could take it I'd love brinjal.

Our current kitchen is white, but I have just had a colourfile tile effect blue, lilac and pink floor fitter. Only finished yesterday and I love it, the colour transforms the place.

If anyone wants to posts photos please do.

Mines very love or hate colour wise it’s colour matched F&B calamine and railings. But we don’t plan to sell for at least 10 years and the cabinets are all wood fronts so we can take those off and repaint in future. I’m so glad I didn’t talk myself out of it and into a neutral colour, we love having something a bit quirky and different.

JeansAndJumper · 28/04/2021 21:41

Urgh, so many issues uploading pics tonight, hope this works

I'd love burnt oranges and yellows. I always imagine those coloured tiles, a nice big oven. Big airy south facing window with a herb garden in it. I can picture it so clearly in my head 😂

Thatswhathappens · 28/04/2021 21:58

@JeansAndJumper that colour combo is just gorgeous, I love it

StatisticallyChallenged · 28/04/2021 22:00

My hallway is a very similar colour to your pink units Jeansandjumper, it's such a soothing shade

Bogoroditse · 28/04/2021 22:01

I'm planning our new kitchen right now, and using our local tidal river for inspiration. Grey blue units, rust sail colored island, interesting stone or red quarry tiled floor and combination of wood and white worktops. @longtompot your seaglass tiles sound amazing, where are they from please?

Hebeee · 28/04/2021 23:04

We have F&B Oval Room Blue base cabinets, island and larder with Craig & Rose Pale Oak wall cabinets (actually only a plate rack, open shelving, one double cupboard and a matching painted cooker hood). The wall colour is also Pale Oak.

It's a bit marmite as we also have a bright red Bertazzoni range cooker, lol!

Our worktops are iroko on the perimeter and anthracite microcement on the island.

mobear · 28/04/2021 23:19

These two kitchens are beautiful (and not mine!).
