Backlit mirror for bedroom

What will be our master bedroom gets rewired next week... Husband and I both have far too many opinions on all things design so making decisions is a bloody nightmare. I need a light for my dressing table area. Thinking about an illuminated mirror instead so we don't have to coordinate with a main pendant and bedside lights. Does anyone have one in their bedroom? Does it look OK or weird? And what about backlit vs. illuminated? I think back lit would look better when the light is off, ie. you don't see that white strip around the outside. But is that hopeless for actually casting light? It's going into the far corner of the room away from the window - I spend about 30 seconds on make up every day so I don't need the brightest light ever, but I want to be able to do my hair and make up without being in shadow.
