Planned to complete on a flat purchase on 27th April but my solicitor just found out that the land registry haven’t updated the lease extension yet, so we have to wait for that. Guidance online from land registry says expedition means a 10 working day turnaround but the seller says it was expedited back in February as we were in the sale process back then. Not sure why something which should have taken 10 working days from February is still outstanding now, how much longer will I have to wait? I’m aware land registry have delays but this seems a bit excessive!

Family member had to send something expedited to LR and was advised it would be about 6-8 weeks, but that for was for registering a title on an old house so not sure whether that would make a big difference.

Since February it’s been that long, so hopefully they are nearly round to processing it by now! If not and if it takes another 8 weeks my mortgage offer will run out.

I have just purchased my freehold before my house sale goes through. It was expedited by my solicitor and the land registry did it within 48 hours. None of use could believe it! Don’t get your hopes up, I’m sure I was just lucky but get your solicitors to send the memorandum of sale or something through and you might be lucky.
I was told it would be 6 months without being expedited Shock

@tryingtocatchthewind I was advised by my solicitor that it needs to be handled by the solicitor who actually arranged the lease extension, so I don’t think it would work with my solicitor sending things? I did tell the seller they should send the memo of sale.

Yes it was just the solicitor who was dealing with the leasehold thing but I sent her my memorandum and then she expedited it for me. Do you have the details of the solicitor dealing with it? I was lucky to have the email address and she was lovely. I wish I’d used her as my own for my house sale
