I have moved into a cottage that we believe originally had a front door leading onto the footpath as everyone’s cottages down the street have 2 steps on the footpath leading up to their front door, now this path is a tiny footpath down the street and the entire street parks their cars on the footpath outside their homes as nobody has parking (these cottages were built when there was no such things as cars) u cannot get prams down these footpaths or wheelchairs you would need to walk single file and really 99% of the time people have to walk on the road as their are cars parked all the way down the street....so our house is very unsymmetrical And ugly as we have no front door on our property so we decided to match the rest of the street to apply to put in a front door and 2 steps so it looks much nicer and in keeping with the village, someone on the council has already objected to this saying that if we had a front door and steps then wheelchairs and prams cannot get past, yes this is true, this footpath is already barely useable due to cars being parked down it and it’s so narrow u already have to go single file, plus every single cottage has the same thing so it really makes no difference.
If I DONT have a front door you can’t get wheelchairs or prams on the footpath and if I DO put in a front door you still can’t get wheelchairs and prams down the footpath, they highway authorities and the conservation officer have no objections to these steps being put onto the barely there footpath.... I feel like before I know it I’m going to have the entire village outside my house with pitch forks 😂, has anyone had the public stop them from getting their planning permission??
