Hey all.
I’m currently looking at buying a house, I’ve seen some really nice houses on the Bella view estate at Goldthorpe which are within my price range.
Can anyone advise if this is a good area to live/ do you have any problems etc?
I’m looking at this area as it is close to where I intend to send my daughter to school as she had friends there.
TIA

We went to view a couple of new builds there. At that exact development.

I loved the house but the area is an absolute sh*thole, sorry to say. We wouldn't have felt comfortable walking to the shops or leaving the estate at all. DH isn't white and he felt uncomfortable there straight away, we'd have felt concerned raising a biracial child there. Just one of those things where he picked up on the vibe immediately.

Have you ever been to Goldthorpe? Or just seen the homes online? TBF lots of people clearly bought there and I'm sure not all of them are miserable, but those are my views.

Thankyou for your reply.
I actually live close by in Manvers in the new estates there but currently live abroad: my eldest daughters friends attend the nearby high school and she is wanting to go to this school to be with her friends that she is still in contact with.
I have driven through goldthorpe but don’t know anyone who lives in the area...I was hoping maybe it was a diamond in the rough kinda situation...
I’m sorry your husband felt that way. That makes me really mad for you all

The estate itself looked nice but I guess the issue is it isn't a gated community or anything, and I wouldn't want to be unable to leave it to pop to the shops or whatever. Initially I was tempted to overlook it but we ended up buying in a really lovely estate instead and knowing what I know now about how lovely it is to live in a well cared for place that feels safe with nice neighbours and not question walking around alone at night or popping out for a walk with the baby I'm so glad we didn't buy there.

I grew up on a council estate so I'm used to rough areas but Goldthorpe was something else!

Thank you
