Window englargement via lowering sill

Hi,
I was just wondering if anyone might have experiece of enlarging a window via dropping the sill? If so do you know a rough estimate of price? In theory I think it would bring a lot of light into the bedroom (the window currently is a oddly high-up), but worried it could be eye-wateringly expensive?
Many thanks,
Kathy

Depends on what your walls are made of. Ours are old stone and it would be eyewatering as anything could come out of the wall.

Brick - relatively cheap. If you don't need a new lintel.

We did this (brick built house) and I was surprised at how cheap it was. Can't remember exactly, but maybe £150 to enlarge the opening, plus cost of new window(obviously). If you are keeping the same width and don't need a new lintel it's an easy job.

Thanks so much, its brick and I'm not wanting to enlarge hugely - so fingers crossed its possible!
