We found our dream home but after having an agreement in principle we didn’t get our mortgage agreed as dh net profit impacted by COVID. We went to a specialist mortgage lender and they have put in writing that they will accept us with one month worth of earning/trading from dh, dh is back to work and the month will be up on may 12th so then we can submit full application.

Our solicitors have today said they would like a copy of our mortgage offer. Do you think it is likely we will lose our property?

It probably depends on the sellers of the house you're buying, and if they're prepared to wait. Although I'm not sure that your solicitor would tell theirs that you're still waiting for an offer; unless they ask. Can you do other things before to keep the sale ticking along - searches, surveys etc, and take the risk that you might not get the new mortgage?

@Cocoaone Thankyou for your reply. We have ended up using the same company 😬 but hopefully there is some time on our side and discretion plus think it is a large company. The searches have come back and the enquiries are being done. I am really confident that we will get the mortgage but it is getting quite nail biting as to what to do.

Just tell the solicitors that you're still waiting on paperwork... it's not a lie
