Has anyone ever made one? Going as far a TPO?

Yes, although it was about 15 or 16 yrs ago now. Went through the estate agent's complaint procedure and weren't happy with the outcome, so went to the TPO. It was a fairly standard process from memory - submitted the complaint and supporting documents, agent submitted a response and then the ombudsman gave a decision (in our favour).

id be interested to know this also... i think they have become very dodgy. almost reserving houses for some people and giving them very good deals price wise.

Yes I did. We put our house on the market and had viewings arranged ect. Circumstances changed with the bank and we were forced to take it of the market on the Monday, told the estate agents straight away and told them I would collect the key later in the week. On the Thursday I went out for a walk with the kids, came home to 4 random strangers in my house
With the estate agents. Told them there and then that I had taken it off the market, only to be told by the people viewing it that 'I was rude for asking them to leave'. To say I was angry was an understatement.

Thats shocking @wantingtostop. Ours was more straightforward than that. They went on how Easter weekend was the "crucial" weekend, pressurising us to agree to go with them rather than other agents. We were going into rented and just wanted to sell asap. Agreed terms, they came to take photos, do particulars, promised they'd be up for the Thursday before Easter on Rightmove etc. They weren't - they didn't go up until Easter Saturday and they were completely wrong, photos were dreadful (main photo on RM was the bathroom!!), room dimensions wrong etc. They took it off Rightmove, then came back to re-take photos and I wrote the particulars myself complete with room dimensions etc. It went on a week later, 4 viewings in 1 day, accepted one of them. Waited until it all went through and then refused to pay the full commission - think I offered £500 instead of £1500 or something they were charging. Took it to the TPO after the agent still wanted the £1000 balance. TPO determined that service had been so poor they were only entitled to £600 in total (so I paid the extra £100).

That's ridiculous, what did they expect to get paid for when they hadn't even done the work properly! Good on you for not paying it!
