Do you love your dishwasher?

I need a new one and a decent one. Large family so need it to work hard and be robust. Messed up the last choice and it only lasted 18 months and I don't want to make to same mistake again.

We can see this thread is a little old now so some of the suggestions may be out of date, but if you’ve landed here looking for recommendations, we’ve recently updated our best dishwasher page with plenty of great options that are loved by Mumsnet users. We hope you find it useful. Flowers

Second all the Bosch votes. I bought a cheap dw from AO 5 years ago and it was the bain of my life. It finally gave up last month and dh decided he would research and buy next one due to my previous incompetence. He bought a Bosch which cost more than twice the amount I paid for cheaply. I like the anti flood device on the inlet pipe too. Lots of great features and definitely worth the money.

Miele.
Had a Siemens, moved to a rental with a Miele. Utterly flawless. Layout perfect, performance perfect. Returned to my original place and replaced the Siemens with a Miele.

We’d had two Indesit dishwashers, the first lasted 5 years and the second more than 10 years so when that needed replacing I bought the equivalent new model.
I hate it. It does a great job of cleaning everything but the racks aren’t quite right. Hard to explain but it’s difficult to put plates in straight, the bottom rack falls off the runners if it’s empty when you pull it out to fill it and large knives and utensils slip through gaps at the front of the upper rack when you move it in or out.

sillyrubberduck · 13/04/2021 23:14

Bosch fan here as well. Fabulous.

MiddlesexGirl · 13/04/2021 23:17

Recently bought a Bosch having had Neff for several years. The Neff had the repair man out several times and had really fiddly racks. Love the Bosch which has a tray at the top and still fits in our large plates and a decent number of tall glasses. Still early days though so can't comment on the longevity.

Nickynackynooo · 13/04/2021 23:25

A Seimens hmmmm. It even texts me when its finished!! And I can put it on from anywhere with the internet!!

WanderingTrolley1 · 13/04/2021 23:26

Our Bosch is almost 10 and still working perfectly.

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 14/04/2021 06:55

There seem to be dozens of Bosch! Can anyone tell me the model they have? I'm looking at the serie 4 SMS46II01G

Budget is £500

I love it.

It's a Miele - their most basic one. It's brilliant and works so well.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 14/04/2021 07:07

I had a bosh. It was ok, nothing to rave about.

I now have a meile. It’s fabulous. The stacking baskets are so clever, I can fit so much more inside there’s no wasted space.

Also it only uses 6l of water per wash. So it’s much better for our water meter.

Everything comes out gleaming on the quickest wash. It’s really good.

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 14/04/2021 07:25

I can't see any Miele for under £500

DobbyTheHouseElk · 14/04/2021 07:27

No Miele is a bit more.

jackstini · 14/04/2021 07:31

I have the Fischer and Paykel dish drawers

Love that I can have one going whilst filling the other one so never any dishes in the sink!

Bagelsandbrie · 14/04/2021 07:38

We have a cheap Indesit one and it’s still going strong 9 years on. Amazing! It literally cost us £190 or something daft and we run it about 3 times a day. It’s so good I went on to buy a cheap Indesit 10kg washing machine when our top of the range Samsung eco bubble washing machine (shit machine) broke down for the 10th time and we love that as well. Total brand convert.

Muststopeating · 14/04/2021 08:08

I have the SMS67MW00G PerfectDry. Its over budget atm as £629 pn John Lewis.

I paid £574 but at the time there was also a £100 cashback offer from Bosch (which you claimed separately) but if you need one imminenetly then probably no use.

Mine is top of the Bosch range because of the 'perfect dry' which to be fair I'd say doesn't make a massive difference.

If you want a cutlery basket instead of a tray (like my mum and brother cos they hate cutlery trays) then you are limited to the cheaper models anyway.

I'd avoid the absolute cheapest model as it has a very primitive drying system, but after that I don't think there are monstrous differences... time remaining display starts on pricier models etc. But i have done extensive research for my new integrated one and the programme options and lengths of cycle tend to be exactly the same right across the range, with the top end models adding one or two extra programmes.

Sound levels (dB) also tend to decrease slightly as you go up in price range.

Hope that helps.

We got this Bosch BOSCH - Serie 2 ActiveWater SMS25EW00G Full-size , it has a cutlery tray , plenty of room , is very quiet and has a good selection of programmes that don’t take hours . We’ve tried them all and it washes well on all of them . It was £379 in Feb so not even expensive for a dishwasher , my husband wanted a series 4 but the one that had the programmes I wanted only had a cutlery basket and I wanted a tray .

Flossie44 · 14/04/2021 13:45

Always had neff or Bosch and never had a problem. My last one died after 10 years. But due to having our kitchen ripped out in a few weeks, we bought a cheap one to get us thru the interim time.
Omg hideous!! The top rack falls off its hinges. And even more annoying, the cutlery rack is on the bottom at the back!! So you can’t just open the door and throw a dirty teaspoon in etc!! Horrid.

Can’t wait to go back to Bosch!!

shalva · 14/04/2021 14:35

also have the AEG one where the bottom tray lifts up.. love it !

BusyLizzie61 · 14/04/2021 17:46

I have a Bosch one also though a slimline version.

Best choice ever!

Works so well. Really quiet. I was stupid to have gone so long before I replaced the old one!

Mintine · 14/04/2021 18:16

Bosch every time. I loved mine but we left it behind and we’re now in rented. But luckily for me, there’s a Bosch left in the house we are renting. A few years ago, we had one of those beautiful 50’s style smeg dishwashers and it was absolutely shit, the worst appliance we have ever bought. Other than a smeg fridge, that was also poor.

bilbodog · 14/04/2021 18:39

MIELE every time - worth the money.

MimiMouse · 14/04/2021 18:49

I love our Neff dishwasher. Particularly the cutlery tray at the top. So much easier and thorough than the cutlery basket in our old dishwasher

londongirl12 · 14/04/2021 19:01

Mine broke a few days ago and it's made me realise how much I hate washing up!! New one coming tomorrow thank god Grin

MrsBobDylan · 14/04/2021 19:18

Bosch - we went Neff and it's needed the same part replacing 3 times in 2 years.

BasiliskStare · 14/04/2021 19:29

I understand people like loving Bosch - have had one - but Miele - quiet as a mouse and better than Bosch ) IMHO)
