Window cleaners turned up and sprayed water all over paving slabs with sealer put on 30 mins ago - wtf do I do?

Just that really.

Is there anything that can be done to fix this?

The paving slabs have sealer?

PrincessBuggerPants · 13/04/2021 11:05

I jet washed them and painted patio sealer on them.

FullofSurprises · 13/04/2021 11:05

Did you not go and tell them?

PrincessBuggerPants · 13/04/2021 11:08

Yes. And they stopped spraying water all over my windows that dropped onto the patio.

The fuckers have now been fired. This was the third destructive fuck up of theirs if you must know.

Does anybody have anything useful to suggest? Can the situation be rescued.

Worse case scenario you'll have to do the job again. Did you not tell them you'd just put sealant down?

StephenBelafonte · 13/04/2021 11:10

Oh lord they sound like the chuckle brothers! Grin. What were the other 2 destructive fuck ups they've done?

MichelleScarn · 13/04/2021 11:11

Had you booked them to come/was this their usual Day?

PrincessBuggerPants · 13/04/2021 11:11

Jesus Christ why I am on on trial here?

OP posts:
Hardchoices · 13/04/2021 11:12

Surely you should have cancelled your window cleaning for the day????

PrincessBuggerPants · 13/04/2021 11:13

"Worse case scenario you'll have to do the job again."

Which part of the job? The jet washing? Will that get buggered sealant off? Or just the resealing?

Because your not taking any personal responsibility for the part you've played in this.

PrincessBuggerPants · 13/04/2021 11:15

God this thread has turned into utter Mumsnet isn't it. I hate to think how you people deal with actual victims of real problems.

They were not due to come for another three days. The first I knew of their arrival was when I heard the water hit the window above the patio.

OP posts:
pinkywinks · 13/04/2021 11:15

Wow you sound delightful OP.

Not sure how they were meant to know in advance that you'd just put sealer down. You told them and they stopped, it's annoying but I imagine you can just paint more sealer on where it's come off?

QuestionableMouse · 13/04/2021 11:16

What do the instructions say? When I did mine, it was pretty much dry after 30 mins.

SatsumasOrClementines · 13/04/2021 11:16

Doing the patio and then forgetting to cancel the window cleaners sounds exactly like something I’d do - so you have my sympathy!

Has the water dried? If not I’d let it dry and see what state the patio’s in before deciding what to do next.

PrincessBuggerPants · 13/04/2021 11:16

Why do I need to demonstrate taking personal responsibility about the part I may or may not have played in a DIY cock-up to people on the internet?

I want to know if there is anything I can do to make the impact of this, on the sealer, minimal.

OP posts:
StephenBelafonte · 13/04/2021 11:17

Can you show us a picture of the damage?

MichelleScarn · 13/04/2021 11:18

Well, actual victims of real problems are generally well supported with good advice and signposting I've found amongst the wonderful mn viperistas!
PrincessBuggerPants · 13/04/2021 11:18

@SatsumasOrClementines It is still wet with the water. I suppose I am wondering if I should do something while it is still wet or dry?

SmileyClare · 13/04/2021 11:18

A second coat of sealer will melt the first coat and any water marks will disappear. There are some handy tips on You tube to help you. Annoying for you but it's fixable.
It happens a lot when a patio has been sealed and it rains unexpectedly so check your 24 hour forecast!

I think this was actually an unavoidable mistake by the window cleaners if they weren't alerted to the sealant? It's fine to stop using their services though.

PrincessBuggerPants · 13/04/2021 11:20

This isn't AIBU reasonable peeps.

It is 'what is the likely outcome of some paving slabs getting wet when they weren't supposed to and how, if at all can it be avoided?'.

OP posts:
PrincessBuggerPants · 13/04/2021 11:21

Thanks @SmileyClare it was the second coat. Do you think a third on the affected slabs will help?

OP posts:
SatsumasOrClementines · 13/04/2021 11:21

Sorry OP, it doesn’t look good:
‘Whether it rained during the installation, or it rained in the first 24 hours, the result is a mess.’

I would contact an expert to rectify (and as the window cleaning company are at fault I’d be requesting the price of this to come out of their insurance).

Snally82 · 13/04/2021 11:23

Call a paving expert... or a builders merchant

SatsumasOrClementines · 13/04/2021 11:23

Xpost with the much more optimistic @SmileyClare ! I’ve got my fingers crossed a second coat works for you 🤞🏻
