Just that really.

Is there anything that can be done to fix this?

In my area, window cleaners don't come on a schedule. I don't know they're here until the dog gets upset. I'd think the best I could do, if I was super organised, was put a note on the door! It would be a rather longwinded note- 'Window cleaners, should you come today, please don't wash the windows as I'm mid DIY'

I hope you sort it, OP. How frustrating for you!

@SatsumasOrClementines that is what I am worried about though it looks like the worst pictures are for acrylic sealers and this was a silicone water seal.

The paving slabs are crappy old things that I wanted to scrub up to avoid laying a whole new path as that isn't a priority right now. Well that backfired. C'est la vie.

The window cleaners had no way of knowing you'd put sealant on your patio, what more were they suppose to do? You so sound unnecessarily agressive over all of this. It's unfortunate and a pain but not the end of the world. Presumably you reseal on a regular schedule? Your patio won't melt away if it's patchily sealed for a bit. And next year schedule the patio clean for just after the cleaners come.

I've just had a charming call from the window cleaner threatening to come round and show my husband my 'rude' messages I sent him (which basically said, I'll pay you for today but I I'm cancelling our arrangement. Please don't come back) to my husband.

Pretty glad to have sent the nasty fucker packing.

One of the other incidents involving them involved an aggressive phone call accusing us of not paying them when we had. They had the wrong number.

Take a hairdryer outside
Blow dry the paving slabs
Apply a mixture of 1 part white spirit, 1 part vinegar and 2 parts soluble aspirin

You’ll be fine

PrincessBuggerPants · 13/04/2021 11:35

Thanks Shirley. Who thought soluble aspirin had so many uses.

Threaten to show your husband your rude message did they then expect him to put you on the naughty stool after a good talking too about disrespecting males.

Theunamedcat · 13/04/2021 11:40

They threatened to tell your husband on you? I hope you laughed 🤣

CherryHug · 13/04/2021 11:41

What would you have done if it rained?

PrincessBuggerPants · 13/04/2021 11:43

@CherryHug seriously? You honestly think I'm that thick?

OP posts:
PrincessBuggerPants · 13/04/2021 11:44

@nzborn @Theunamedcat at the end of it he said he was never coming back! Like it was all his idea.

At which point I have to admit I laughed and told him 'good'. Then he hung up.

I think you have a few choices.
If it's just a bit of "spotting" in a small area, then live with it. It will fade in time as the sealant ages.
Or Apply another coat to affected area to disguise the worst of the water marks,
Or Jet wash again, wait until bone dry and reapply sealant.
Or Apply a solvent to dissolve the original sealer (this will depend on what you used) and some solvents can be very caustic and toxic so proceed with caution.

Very frustrating but it sounds as though you've calmed down now. Your window cleaners are probably fairly thick skinned, I'm sure they weren't traumatised by your outburst. Wink

I'd chalk it up as an unfortunate incident. My knowledge is only based on my experience of my husband laying and sealing patios.. I know he has been beside himself when an unexpected down pour has left mottling on sealed stones.

CherryHug · 13/04/2021 11:47

Excuse me? It was an honest question.

Um, yes it was. I am genuinely curious if the heavens had opened as you had finished it, what would you have done? I really want to know.

NamechangeApril21 · 13/04/2021 11:54

If you don't want people engaging with you, I suggest you try Google instead of a forum. You've been very rude.

I would ask the advice from the sealant manufacturer.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 13/04/2021 12:00

Was it a company? If so make sure you complain up the chain.

No practical advice sorry :(.

PrincessBuggerPants · 13/04/2021 12:01

Thanks @Wombatstew

I think I need to wait until it dries to see what the damage is before seeking advice on rectifying it iyswim.

Just to make it clear, I am not making ANY claim against the window cleaners. The main one is a massive psycho nut job, and I just want him gone.

The purpose of mentioning that the window cleaners had done it in the OP was to make clear the amount of water that had fallen on it. i.e. it wasn't a surprise rain shower, it was much more water than that, though also more isolated.

It was not an AIBU to fire my window cleaner over a single incident (when it was in fact the third including some aggression and today some threatening behaviour).
