Replacing a floor

We have a Victorian(ish) semi, and the floor in the living room is in a pretty bad state. Floorboards are in very bad condition and we suspect some of the joists might need replacing as well.

We spoke to a restoration firm and they advised that it would be best to replace the floor completely rather than try to salvage it.

Who do we need for this sort of job? I think it's probably a void under the current boards. Do we want a joiner? General builer? Something else?

We're not sure what we'd want to replace it with. Engineered wood is £££ so perhaps laminate (but that would require a new subfloor)...

I had a builder replace the floor plates and joists, then got a floor guy to do the floor.

Thanks changing, that might be a good route to go down.
