Has anyone lived in site accommodation (essentially a portacabin) while renovating?

Just as above really. No way we can stay in the house with two kids and a dog, but could hire essentially an office portacabin with loo and kitchenette, it comes flat packed so we could get it into the garden, and fill with our own furniture rather than being limited by a caravan. At various points we will have access to old kitchen, new utility, bathrooms etc.

It’s about a 1/4 of the cost of a 6 month rental, but I can’t find any info on anyone doing this so am I mad to be considering it?

I know someone who hired a mobile home for the duration of their build. There were pros and cons I think.
It all comes down to how big your house is and whether all areas are being renovated or just certain parts. If it's big it might be possible to just live in part of the house and move stuff around.
There is no right answer here. It'll depend on your appetite for disruption, budget and many more factors.
