Relocating to Cheltenham from London in summer. Ive heard that Leckhampton and Charlton Kings are nice areas and close to good schools. I've also seen a few houses in Battledown on Rightmove, can anyone with local knowledge tell me if this is a good area? We have small children not yet school age. Our budget is 1.5m

All 3 areas you’ve mentioned are very nice, expensive, but you have the budget so I’m sure you will find somewhere lovely.
The schools are very good. Have a look at Leckhampton Primary.

I've not lived in Cheltenham for a long time but have lived in both Charlton Kings and Leckhampton. I'd go Charlton kings. Streets off London Road are nice too.

Leckhampton You can walk everywhere really. Bath road shops. Naunton Park lovely primary school in the actual park. Lovely. Or Leckhampton Primary, slightly further away from town. More academic let’s say than Naunton Park.

We are about to have our very own senior school from September!! Leckhampton High School. Huge news. Very high hopes. Currently kids go to Bournside (1.5 miles walk away) Big senior school. Or Balcaras (1.5 miles walk away, but in Charlton Kings. The current preferred school. And many Leckhampton families move to Charlton Kings to get their kids in there. We didn’t. But my younger two will go to Leckhampton High School (Huzzah) and my older two currently go to Bournside. We didn’t do the Charlton Kings ‘hop’ for Balcarras. We love living in Leckhampton. We walk pretty much everywhere. Bath road shops excellent.

Battledown is exclusive. But I don’t like what side of town it’s on. Sorry. Private school maybe ? You’d be driving a fair bit

Not a lot on the market at the mo. Everything getting snapped up quick
I’d register with Peter Ball. Hamptons. Etc
Look at the Daisy Bank house. Very prestigious area between Leckhampton and Charlton Kings

There is a house in battledown that has come on the market today for 1.5 it actually looks like quite good value....the estate there is lovely, we walked round it this week to pick the dream house should euromillions come in!

Leckhampton/Charlton kings lovely... up Hatherley further out but also nice.
Fairview lovely part of town but not sure on secondary catchments there...

I think I have seen the one you mean. Thanks!
Battledown never really gets a mention on forums etc but seems to have nice properties. I wasn't sure if there was a reason for this.

I bought in Battledown, also moving from SE for September. It is a very very lovely and a quiet 'no through' private area (with barriers) and connects into the wider Charlton Kings where you have a good mix of town and country. With that money I too would look at this area too, because I did! It may not get a big mention here as there tends to be limited housing stock available on the estate. We looked at Sandy Lane/Leckhampton/centre of town and they didn't quite tick all our boxes but quite frankly there wasn't anywhere grotty, they just had a different feel. The higher up the hill you go, the more exclusive it gets. Good luck with the move, exciting times!
