Where to move?

I'm currently in Northumberland, I love my house my daughters at primary school and it's all good but something is just missing. I just feel like a move.. (just testing the water) we love silloth and carlisle. I've applied to cumbria choice the place is huge and a mind field not knowing the areas well. I've done some research but still not knowing where is nice to live, good schools streets etc. I want to be somewhere with good walks, plenty to do, and shops close enough like an aldi lidl etc.... Or be able to get a delivery. I know some places are way out and that's no good if we're to move & live there in comparison to a holiday. I don't currently drive but starting up again soon. So far I have applied for houses in Egremont and whitehaven. Any advice would be appreciated 😊

Hi I live in West Cumbria and we often spend an hour or two in Silloth. It's a lovely place but I would not want to live there . I will give my reasons but would be interested in finding out why you want to move there ? Not being nosy , but I'm very much the head over heart and just wondered what yours are.

You didn't come back so I'll say what I was going to without your feedback.
Silloth has a lovely green in front of the sea so naturally is a great draw when the weather is nice and you will get lots of visitors ( as I'm sure you already know from your post )
If you have been further afield I expect you would see in the grand scheme of things it's a little run down without any facilities. It only has a small co-op and definitely no Aldi or Lidl . It has a couple of takeaways one of two independent cafes and a newsagent / ice cream shop.
As I said I visit but would not live there .
Egremont further down the coast is not a place I'd want to live in. Bigger than Silloth , has a slightly bigger co-op , more takeaways , more shops, but nothing very special , it's a bit of a dump and known locally as excrement .
Whitehaven again down the coast , is the largest town out of them , has a Tesco , and an Aldi / B & M , Argos , Morrisons , more shops in a paved , no vehicle High St, lots of charity shops . A nice marina , but again not a vibrant up coming area . If you were to be forcing me to live in one of those it would have to be there , but more forced .
Carlisle is a city , abet a very small one . It has Aldi, Morrison's , Lidl, Tesco , Morrison's etc. It also has two small M & S foodhalls, one next to the M & S in the town and the other in the out of town shopping . You'd find more to do there out of all of the places you mention.

I wouldn't go to Egremont it's like the end of the earth!
What about Penrith?
I'm not sure I'd trade Northumberland for Cumbria though. Are you ready for the rain? ;)
