Where to rent Newcastle/ Northumberland.

Morning. So we have sold our home and we are relocating to the north east.
We adore Hexham and Morpeth but they are out of our price range I think.

We have decided to rent for a while. But where? I’d like to get ds 13 settled in school by September and don’t want to move him when we buy. So rental needs to be within 10 miles of where we might buy.

We have a budget of 300k maybe more when we buy but honestly we’d much rather only spend 200k ish. I’ve seen houses in prudhoe come up for that amount.
3 bed needed and good size garden.

Where on earth do we rent to allow us to stay in the area when we look to buy? I am so confused.

Commute is not an issue.

This is all a bit disjointed sorry. My head is spinning from all the research.

Thanks.

You could get a 3 bed with garden in hexham and if you move out to the surrounding areas it gets cheaper. Haydon Bridge is 7 miles away and house prices much better. But I think Hexham is doable for your budget and a lovely place to live! Brilliant first schools and they are in the process of building an amazing new combined middle/high school (local here)

I'd go for Whitley Bay.

@violetmartini thanks. That is reassuring to hear. I’ve seen rentals come up there too.

@BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz Unfortunately I think Whitley bay is well out of our price league.

Ryton is lovely and modern houses there are cheaper. Low Fell in Gateshead is nice. Lots of new builds north of Newcastle.

Low fell is great. Whickham too (good access to A1 from both)

Cramlington?

Thanks for the suggestions. It’s so confusing. The advice is to rent when relocating but then you have to figure out where to rent! Number one priority is my teenager. I don’t want to have to move his school again.
