Water turned off for survey?

Hi, just wondering if anyone has any idea why this would be. Just got survey back and it states "The water supply to the property was turned off on the day of the inspection"
Have asked surveyor for clarification and will also contact estate agent in the morning to ask seller the reason for this, but in the meantime does anyone have any idea why this could be? Seems like there must be something wrong with the water that they're trying to hide?!

I’d have read that as on the day of the survey the water supply had been turned off due to external factors, e.g water supplier repairing a burst, rather than the water supply having been turned off because there was a survey due.I’d reckon an external issue would be far more common than an issue with the water supply being hidden by a seller. You might even find notification of an issue on the water supplier website / social media if the survey was in the last few days. If not your query to the surveyor and / or estate agent will likely give you an answer though.

Is the property empty fir a while? Maybe they turned it off to avoid pipe bursts or leaks over winter?

I would have assumed that it was because of something like a burst water main or works being done that affected the whole road, not that the owners had purposely switched off to hide something.

It would have the effect of hiding a leak, which the skilled ear can hear even it it can't be seen.

It might be a coincidence.

Unoccupied houses commonly have the water turned off.
