Well I would recommend Churchill. We are in the middle of a major claim and they have been good.

The only time when people tend to leave trust pilot reviews is when something goes wrong or a claim is repudiated. 99/100 if a claim is dealt with well customers don’t tend to leave to a review so it’s totally skewed.
You’re best to look at the defaqto rating who are an independent company that rank insurance products. It’s like a hotel rating 5 is the best- 1 don’t touch it with a barge pole.
The key things to look at are the exclusions on the policy. Weigh up things like excesses. If you have a voluntary excess it can make the policy cheaper but in the event of a claim you have to fork out more money.
Buildings cover is pretty straight forward, although do make sure you are covered for accidental damage. A lot of the time it’s an optional extra on online comparison searches and people don’t tick it, but a hell of a lot of claims fall under accidental damage under buildings.

Hastings direct. Absolutely brilliant with both home and motor claim. Home claim reported Mon morning, assessor visited Tues pm, money in bank within a week. When it turned out the first contractor we hired was crap less than brilliant, they just asked for a copy of the new quote and poof! the money arrived. Twas a reasonable sized claim too, new bathroom, hall stairs and landing decoration and carpeting.

Car claim notified Thurs am (my fault Blush) , sent photos to a link they sent Thurs pm, offer to settle Fri and picked up car same day, money in bank by tues. Offer was well over trade in value, and they wrote to me a year later saying they had shortchanged me by £80something, so sent that plus interest in a cheque.

It will take a lot to get me to leave them!
