How much for painter/decorator in the NW?

We're looking to get someone in to paint/decorate a few rooms in a new house we're buying and I have no idea of even a ballpark figure. We're getting our first quote next week and I don't want to be totally shocked so thought I'd ask you lovely lot how much you'd pay for painting/decorating.

Roughly speaking (but not sure until we get the keys next week), we're thinking of repainting the lounge-diner; kitchen; possibly half the tall hallway (the other half has recently been repapered by the current owners and we aren't looking to touch that); and poss 4 bedrooms.

Please help!

Quite a while ago now but it was £300-400 per room depending on prep (less probably if just repainting, no wallpaper to remove etc). More to include ceiling.

We had four bedrooms and lounge painted (also toilet ceilings). It was £1000. They did really good job and we are asking them to kitchen later date.

My daughter and her partner bought their first house together and planned (& saved) to have a decorator in to do every room (3 bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen, lounge, dining room and occasional room), top to bottom including hall & staircase. The decorator was there for about 10 weeks (one person) and they paid £6k which included all supplies. This is Yorkshire.
