My family is going to rent a house in Fishponds, is it a good & safe place to live? Thanks.

Yes, in Bristol.

Like all areas it has its spots - in general I'd say it gets nicer as you head out toward Downend. Some of the older Georgian/Victorian bits are charming in a higgledy-piggedly sort of way. There are some decent pubs, cafes and independent restaurants, three supermarkets, assorted local shops and a decent bus service into town. I don't know much about the schools. Oldbury Court park and Snuff Milld down by the river Frome are lovely. I hope this helps!

That was enormously polite - my response would just be avoid completely.

It's not somewhere I would choose to live
What about Downend? It's really nice and one of our considered options for when we move back to Bristol later in the year!

Thanks for both comments.

I think Fishponds is fine. Do you have the option of living somewhere else or is that definitely where you're going? I lived in Bristol for 12 years and didn't ever feel unsafe if that helps.

The letting agent recommended a property to me which located in Fishponds and I want to check it before we make the decision. I did check the crime rate on Streetcheck which seems a bit high. The rental market in Bristol is very hot! Thanks for the comment.

Hot rental markets are fun for dodgy landlords. Read the how to rent guide and make sure the place is compliant.
