Thinking of getting solar panels, hoping to hear from people have experience of fitting them over the past year on the SEG Scheme rather than FIT?

Is is worth it?

We’ve had ours for several years, so we’re on FIT, but if you go ahead, I would strongly recommend having bird mesh fitted around the edges at installation. We’re about to have it retrofitted on ours.

Ours are on FiT, but -despite being all for renewable - don't think we'd be installing them if the decision was now: We earn a fixed rate for generation and export which isn't at the mercy of energy suppliers.

That said, I believe the cost of panels has gone down/efficiency increased and if you have high electric bills they may still be attractive (but that again decreases export payments).

I think if the cost of storage goes down significantly (effectively removing any electric costs) that would make a difference.
