Orangerie glass roof

I am thinking about putting an extension onto the back of my house. I quite like the idea of an orangerie, it would otherwise be a solid roof. Please can anyone who has one tell me what they are like in winter in the rain etc. Do they make the room feel cold? Are they noisy in the rain?

I have a glass roof. It doesn't make much noise unless absolute downpour. The room has two big radiators- but it is marginally colder in winter and hotter in summer, but I still use it every day.
