Electrics and WiFi for log cabin style garden room

We are thinking of erecting a log cabin style room at the bottom of our garden. Nothing fancy but it would be good to get WiFi / electrics down there as it would predominantly be used as a teenagers den. We would obviously get a qualified electrician to do this but want to know what it involves? Large trenches in your garden, gouging out holes in your house walls to run wires through etc etc. We also have a patio from our back extension that drops about 45cm onto our lawn, would cabling have to go underneath that?

You’ll need trenches in garden to run cables down. I think ours are about a foot to a foot and a half down. Basically you want them far enough down and running through a bit of your garden where you’re unlikely to dig.

I think ours comes out through the kitchen wall to the outside. We also had an external power socket put in at the same time which is really useful.

For WiFi either look for a mesh or similar system that reaches to your shed (we have Eero) or run a cable at the same time as your electrics and put a separate router down there. The only regret I have with ours is that we didn’t put the cable down and so are totally reliant on WiFi from the house. However with the Eero it works fine for streaming etc

Hole in the wall as close to the garden as possible.

Run the internet cable at the same time as the electrics, you can then have a wireless router in the outbuilding.

Make sure the electric is armoured cable (electrician should do that anyway). They'll need to set up an rcd (I think that's what it's called).

Put pea shingle in above the cabling when you fill the hole back in (it will alert you to something being under it when you/someone else digs the garden).

We have an outbuilding - it already had power, but we dug the cable for the internet ourselves and my husband set up what router and everything. 18 inches (ish) but not very wide. Didn't take too long, this we did it on a summer evening.

Patio might be a challenge...

Impossible to say on the info given. Get several quotes and ask how they're proposing to do it
