Moving house - buy beds now or when we move in?

I can't work out when would be a good time to buy the children's beds... We are moving house next week. The children are currently in bunk beds but in the new house they will have their own rooms so will need two separate beds. Should I buy their new beds now, to arrive asap, or is it better to have the children in the bunk beds in the new home and take our time once we arrive to measure up and order the new beds at our leisure? The added complication is that my son has autism so any change is going to be very difficult. We will give the bunk beds to charity. Just wondering what the best way to go about it is.

"have the children in the bunk beds in the new home and take our time once we arrive to measure up and order the new beds at our leisure"

This

But if you order now they might not arrive in time anyway, there can be a lead time for beds

We waited until in to sort new beds. But we had enough things for them to sleep on in the mean time.

But....if you think one change best for your son and you have space to store the new bed then do it now. (I might be a bit worried about a brand new bed getting scratched in the move). It depends what you are getting him.

Would he adapt better to the new house I'd.you leave him in his bunk bed for bow?

When you move in

How much do you need to measure though? Won’t you be getting two single beds? They’re a standard size, more or less.

AnotherEmma · 28/03/2021 07:53

I guess it depends which bed, standard singles are pretty much the same size but a mid or high sleeper would obviously require measuring up.

One is getting a small double and the other a single. So not much measuring as they will definitely fit.

One will be from Ikea and the other from Argos. The added bonus of waiting is that if I buy these at the same time as the wardrobes and bedside cabinets we may save on delivery costs.

But if I bought them now, not sure when they would arrive and which house to order them for...!

Huge lead time for beds at the moment. But Argos might be more quick.
