Electrician's bill

Hi there
I am just reviewing the bill we received from our electrician for electrical alterations during our kitchen renovations. We got a few new sockets in the kitchen and there were already a few in the kitchen from previously. The ones that were there previously got a new cover during the renovations. Is it normal for electricians to charge the same amount for the existing ones as for any new ones? It appears to me that we got charged for the existing ones. The price per double socket is £65.
If this is normal then I won't challenge this part of the bill, but I thought I'd double check on here. DH thinks it's fair as they had to test them and replaced the cover.

Thank you!

We just had two sockets ( double) in a new small extension , one of them was a previous outside waterproof socket, he swapped that and added a new one on other side of the room. He continued the ring and didn’t spur off , easy enough job and he charged £80 that included tests and the minor works certification.

I expected it to be more and it was the first time I had used him. Took him about an hour.

It’s looks like he charged you 65 quid for just swapping a socket front on two of them , that’s too much it’s a five minute job .

Thank you, that's what I thought too!

I’ve got an electrician in a property at the minute doing several jobs - he’s quoting £20 per socket to replace existing with new and £40 to install a completely new one, so your quote seems a bit steep to me.

I think you have been overcharged

but

find the quote and see what it says.
