Latex over floor tiles

I have a first floor bathroom - currently the floor is tiled - had a couple of people come round to quote now both saying they would latex over the existing floor tile rather than remove them and the ply beneath (and then replace the ply) - and then lay LTV floor on the screed?

Is this pretty standard now? Or should I insist on the tile being removed first??

Bump as I too am curious. I want to lay LVT flooring on top of kitchen tiles - is that doable?

We had this done in our conservatory for normal vinyl and it was fine.

Tbh it sounds a bit shoddy. For lvt you need a very stable sub floor and so taking back to floorboard, securing ply and then latex/lvt would seem more secure for long term durability. Over tiles on a concrete floor I would be less concerned.
