Revive this chimnea?

Hi, would anyone know where to start on reviving this chimnea. I was going to buy one but my Mum in law has this and I thought I could maybe revive it. Could I paint the stone and the rusted stand.

Revive this chimnea?

Do you want to use it as a chimenea or as a decorative plant pot?

If a chimenea then you need to use heat proof paint, you get it to repair wood burning stoves and the like. If just a decorative plant pot then frenchic furniture paint works well or rustoleum paint.

Either way, you'll need to sugar soap it well and sad down the rusty bits.

I'd pressure wash it and see how well it cleans up from that. It might not need painting, especially if you don't mind a slightly rustic look.

I was going to use it as a chimnea, ok so sugar soap and would a wire brush take the rust off the stand? Could I just use metal paint on that?
