I need some documents after official purpose asap after buying a house so thats why asking. Thank you

You should get some sort of confirmation of completion statement from your solicitor once it’s all gone through.

AFAIK paper title deeds aren’t provided any more anyway - it’s all on the Land Registry - who’s down as owners, as well as the name of the mortgage provider (but not the amount). As I remember, you didn’t get paper title deeds anyway until the property was fully paid off.

I've never received paper deeds (bought three times in the last 6 years). I always have a mild panic when my parents ask where our deeds are, but we've never needed them to sell so I'm assuming it's all ok.

Having said that, the second purchase wasn't actually registered with the land registry (solicitor seems to have forgotten...) which did cause quite a lot of trouble, so it's worth buying a copy of the land registry documents a few months after completion to check!

It could take ages to get the updated title from the Land Registry as they can be pretty slow.

If you need to prove you've bought the house, the solicitor can send you a certified copy of the dated transfer though. That's the doc which goes to the Land Registry. If it's a new-build flat you're buying it will be a copy of the new lease but it's the same principle.

We're nearly six weeks post completion and have heard nothing yet.

any transaction after 1995 (I think...) has no paper deeds, they are purely decorative. The land registry holds all the details. Speak to your solicitor who should send you copies and will know the current timescales.

Ours took nearly 6 months! Literally got them last week after completing in September, I gather land registry was the hold up. We got them in a matter of a couple weeks when we bought in "normal" times.

Ours took over 6 months. However, solicitor sent a letter immediately confirming when completion had taken place. We used this letter/ mortgage docs/ Council Tax Bill as proof for school etc.

Same as QueenStromba. It makes me background twitchy at times. We have the solicitor letter though.
