New build - buyers or developers pay for bins?

We are in the middle of buying a new build and I was notified we need to order our own bins. The council have come back and said we should be asking the developer for this and they cost £93 each and (we need two as will the other 4 houses). Do we have to just suck it up or should we be insisting they provider them?

Definitely press the develop to provide the bin or ask the Council planning department if this was a condition of the planning permission. My council have had this problem before when the sharks (sorry developers) wouldn’t pay. Thankfully the planning condition forced them to.

It differs across councils and developers. A few of us bought new builds on here last year, they're free from my council, but it was my responsibility to get them ordered. Another mumsnetter, lincs I believe, had to pay £100+ for her bins.

I just bought my bins from B&Q. Do they have to be from the council? My rubbish gets collected (though I did not buy the paler green recycling one).

I'm familiar with pretty much all the big house builders.

None of them pay for the bins for you. It's up to the resident

We had to buy our own. And they have to be from the council.
