I am going round in circles deciding between the two, and I need to make a decision soon so we can get the work booked in.
What I know is that the shower area will be wall to wall, and I am having a tiled bit at the end the shower tray which will be the ‘drying off area’ like in one of the pics.
Similar to the pics, but the entry to the shower and tiled bit will be on the same side as the vanity, with shower on the opposite wall (will obviously leave enough space between the two for getting in and out)
The reason for this is that I have a long window on the wall (in place of the niche in the pic with mosaic tiles). So mainly for ease, when cleaning around/opening the window or blind etc.
If I go for fully enclosed it will be wall to wall with a sliding door, and the shower tray and tiled bit will be levelled so the sliding door can go straight across (builder confirmed can do this). The space from wall to wall is just the right length for one of the standard sizes.
Reasons for fully enclosed:
-Stops the cats getting in
-No chance of water splashing around onto the main floor (not just when showering, but also when filling mop buckets, hand washing things etc)
-Warmth - I’ve read that open showers can be colder and I absolutely hate the cold in general. The worst part of my day is stepping out of the shower and getting frostbite, flapping about trying to wrap up as quickly as possible.
Reasons for just a single glass panel:
Less glass/joints to clean BUT this isn’t the end of the world for me
Aesthetics - it definitely looks sleeker. My main concern is it could look a bit disjointed, with a sliding door across the tray/tiled bit, but this might be because I can’t find many examples of it to see how it would all come together.
I know there is the option of those half width panels that swing about, to stop water splashing but I don’t like the look of these at all.
If I had a fixed swing door like in the mosaic tiled pic, there wouldn’t be enough space for it to open fully due to vanity.
I don’t know if I’m missing any other obvious pros/cons but would love to hear some opinions!
