Hawarden

Have seen a house in Hawarden that we like. Anyone got any information on the area? Is it as nice as it appears to be?

I don't live there, but visit the area frequently (although I've only been to Hawarden itself a couple of times). But I know it's considered the most "upscale" village in the area - lots of pretty buildings, plus the Castle and it's Estate and farm shop, and Gladstone's Library. It's a more boutique, small shops, golf course, gastro pub type place compared to most of the surrounding area (Deeside).

Hawarden’s a lovely place to live - easy to get to/from, with good amenities (gastro pubs, farm shop, cafe etc) and only a few minutes from the Broughton Retail Park for supermarket shopping. Brilliant cafe at the airfield (Chocs Away) which is great for kids who like planes. Good schools and an upmarket village feel.

Btw OP, if you are thinking of paying the premium to live in "Hawarden", make sure the house is actually in Hawarden! Sounds silly but a lot of "Hawarden" houses for sale seem to be more in /closer to nearby Ewloe. There is nothing wrong with Ewloe but just like Broughton (that pp mentioned is also nearby) and other nearby villages, it doesn't have the cachet/upmarket vibe of Hawarden proper.

Thank you, Iam, we noticed that. In fact, the house we like the look of is more Ewloe. There was a nice house on High Park which we were considering but it seemed a silly price and it’s now sold. We’ve seen a place in Northop Hall too which has a more peaceful vibe than Hawarden, but 5 minutes by car.
