Moving out of London

Hi All,

I live in London with my husband and daughter and I am trying to move out of London like everyone else 😀 We were looking for rental houses in Wokingham but are struggling to find a house. It feels like there is so much competition for a house and by the time we decide to view the property, it gets off the market 😒 It has been more than a month and I am almost giving up on Wokingham. Can you please suggest some other areas that I can look at. I want a place with easy commute to London with good primary schools as my daughter is 5.I am also looking at a place which is cosmopolitan so that there is a mix of all the cultures.

There's a fantastic Facebook group called Life After London which might help - lots of similar discussions to scroll through and plenty of people who have made the move and can share their experiences.

Thank you 😊 I will find the group on Facebook

Milton Keynes?

Not sure Wokingham is that cosmopolitan ?.

@CatAndHisKit Thanks! Are the schools good in Milton Keynes? Also do you know the areas that I should look at and areas that I should avoid?

@Pyewackect I agree that Wokingham is not that cosmopolitan but I have heard people from multiple cultures moving there especially because the schools are good. I am looking at Earley, Woodley area. I definitely want to avoid places where the areas are divided by cultures and have become pockets of each culture.

OP there is a MK thread going (I think on the first page of this toppic) - have a look. There were others if you put it in search, too. I don't live there but I've heard a lot about it and from your criteria it's a good option, the commute is very good.

I’m always surprised when people move out of London but say they want somewhere diverse/cosmopolitan etc. Seems very counter intuitive!

I grew up in Wokingham. I love the town, but it's not multicultural or cosmopolitan.
