Cleaning/packing logistics for house move

Does anyone have any experience with how to approach this, please? We're going to book a packing service and can book a cleaning service too if needed, but I'm assuming there won't be time on the move day both for packers to clear everything and us or a cleaner to clean everything thoroughly. Is it just a question of precleaning the insides of cupboards etc, and putting everything back until it is packed, or is there a clever workaround that I've missed?

Watching this with interest as I’m going to be in the same position in a few weeks!

When I had a full pack they had packed the whole house by 11am. The cleaners came in the afternoon. I didn't have to do a thing.

I've just done a house move without a packing service or cleaner, it has been such hard work and I still have to unpack everything! If you can afford it definitely do it.
But I was organizing and throwing away stuff during packing.

We didn't have cleaners or packers and managed. The movers got all the bug furniture onto the van, then cleared all the boxes from each room one at a time. We went in each room after it was empty and dusted and hoovered. They were finished putting everything on the van by 11am so we had time to do a deep clean of the kitchen and bathroom before dropping the keys off.

Out seller on the other hand didn't feel the need to clean anything on their way out.

You can preclean to some extent.
Yes, insides of cupboards. Also the bits that seldom , if ever get cleaned; behind each picture there will be dust/cobwebs, behind each chest of drawers/ bookcase there will be a grubby skirting board.
Otoh, these things are way less work and quicker when room has been emptied, so it may not be worth it.
Tell the packers, in advance, that you will be cleaning behind them, and ask them to empty whole rooms, eg bedrooms first, so that cleaning can proceed while they are working.

Whether there's time to pack and clean depends mainly on how many people are doing it.

Thanks, all. It's good to know it's possible to manage it on the day. I think I'll do some of the bigger jobs first to be safe, so that only a surface clean is needed on moving day.

Depends on your house size and amount of stuff - at most a ‘moving house deep clean’ shouldn’t take more than a few hours with two cleaners.
You can have movers in the morning and cleaner in the afternoon.
