What is Shoreham-by-Sea like?

Hello

We are thinking of moving to Hove but have been totally priced out of the area so are looking at Shoreham by sea.

We are a mixed race family with one kid (and one on the way) and was wondering whether it is a welcoming place? What is the community like for young families? Are there lots of activities for little ones? Also, are there any nice cafes/coffee shops/restaurants?

What is the Shoreham beach area like to live in? Is the water safe for a swim?

Thanks in advance!

I live in Brighton but occasionally visit Shoreham beach. I don't know much about diversity but the beach is lovely for visiting with kids in the summer. It's quick and easy to get to Brighton and Worthing. I'm sure someone will be along to give you more details.

Shoreham beach is really nice. Nowhere in the Brighton area is particularly diverse but it's not terrible and shoreham is pretty naice and safe. Shoreham has lovely cafes and plenty of choices.

Shoreham beach is nice. The beach is pebbles and sand when the tide goes out. It has marked swim zones where no other water sport is allowed including fishing so no chance of being in contact with a wind surfer or boat and a large part of shoreham beach is in the zone.
There is a large green and children’s play park.
The area is not that diverse. I think on a national scale it is below the average but having said that a few years ago my son played for one of the local youth football teams which has a good mix for of both ethnicity and economic diversity. Kids from private schools to kids who qualified for vouchers to pay their subs.
I have now moved further along the coast of West Sussex but still enjoy shoreham.
The scruffy bit is around shoreham harbour which I wouldn’t recommend but shoreham beach is a lot nicer.

Shoreham beach is lovely...we spent most of last summer there as it's quieter than Brighton beach (where we live). We are also a mixed race family and have always found it fine.
