How long until exchange

So we made a offer in Jan we are the last in a chain of 4 our vendors are moving into rented house. This week I received all contracts to sign and TR1 etc which I have returned, our searches were ordered the beginning of the month and solicitors are in receipt of two of them. Also enquirers have been raised does anyone have idea how long roughly we have left. Thanks

Have you had the survey done?
Have the mortgage company approved the survey / valuation?

Expect delays further up the chain - someone will find damp and commission a specialist damp survey...someone else's lender will take 5 working days to respond to every successive e mail....

16 weeks is a not unusual sort of timescale from beginning to end.

We’re due to complete Wednesday (exchanged yesterday) so will have taken 14 weeks in total (including Xmas)

Everyone in your chain has to agree, so the solicitor is your best go between (or the agent, but he/she isn't working for you in this case). So ask your solicitor where the rest of the chain is. I think things have been taking up to six months due to covid restrictions, but hopefully a huge chunk of the bottleneck will ease.

All surveys and mortgage are completed we are the last ones in the chain

14 weeks for us too, including Christmas.
