Mid range kitchen recommendations

I’m finally going to be redoing my kitchen after 15 years of making do.

It is a big kitchen diner and I have a budget of about £45-50k. That is for a ground floor renovation, kitchen, flooring throughout, utility being built in garage, decorating (including 3 storey hall).

So I’m looking for a good quality mid range kitchen. Don’t need granite worktops or anything but do like clever storage.

Was thinking German, but would love recommendations!

@LittleOverwhelmed I’m up in Edinburgh so lots of choices, just a bit overwhelming!

I bought an independent bespoke kitchen in that price bracket. I wish I hadn't! We were unlucky and the company was bought out mid kitchen build which was a total disaster. But even now 4 years on, when stuff breaks it's impossible to fix. If I'd just gone for a standard kitchen you could easily change bits or fix them.

Have you looked at DIY kitchens? We have their units for our utility and it was a dream in comparison. They have a huge range of stuff.

@caplin we are having the Blackwell company do ours, not started yet but they may be able to help

Second pp suggestion of DIY Kitchens - they seem to be good quality for the money and do a wide range of styles, colours and cupboard/draw types, but you do have to already have a kitchen design (although they will check it if you ask, to make sure you've ordered all you need).

Go to a local joinery company that also does kitchens. You will get something really well made and so much more for your budget than a 'big name'.

There was a thread a couple of months ago from someone installing a kitchen in Scotland that had some recommendations - a search might bring it up.

jaundicedoutlook · 09/03/2021 22:55

We used these in our last house

stoneham-kitchens.co.uk/

They have a few local installers about and there are a couple in Scotland.

We had a medium sized kitchen done - modern handle less style, with quartz top and Siemens appliances. Was about 30k 6 years or so ago. I’d definitely recommend them in your price bracket.

Thanks all, lots of food for thought.

I'll try a couple of independents that have been a round for a while. I think a few of them stock the german ranges

We got a Nobilia kitchen installed in the summer of 2019. We were able to choose mixed materials so the upper units are wood and the lower are white. Lots of great storage solutions.

If you like German I have been quite impressed by Schmidt.

Here it is in progress
