Removing a cat flap

What's the best way to permanently remove a cat flap from a back door?

It's a wooden door I think -not sure if the panel can be replaced or if the whole door needs to go. That will be quite costly I think ... anyone done this and know about what is the most secure way? Or how much a door replacement is roughly (SE)?

Or should we just leave the flap in the door?

If it's a wooden door just fit a ply panel on both faces and paint it

New doors Can be in the region of £1k

It will depend on how the cat flap has been fitted. I ended up replacing my upvc door because the previous owner had done a botch job and not kept it within one panel.

Thanks both, it's in one part of the door, but I thought adding the ply panel might look a bit odd. Will see if I can get someone to take a look :)
