uPVC windows and shutters, is it a good idea?

I recently received two quotes from two companies and they both said it’s OK for them. I have two bay windows and they will need to drill into the window frames however, I have concerns about the feasibility.

Does anyone have fitted wooden shutters (I want to go for tier-on-tier) on uPVC window frames?

I have fitted shutters on upvc frames, had them two years and no issues at all

They need to see, if they can, how far the glass goes into the frame

I am very stuck for window coverings because apparently the glass extends too far into the frame here. I am going to try to revisit this issue but I'm slightly worried it's just a waste of time.

Anyway, seasoned DIYers probably know how to tell this?

Thanks @Invisiblewoman1 @LunaHeather
Both companies said it’s perfectly fine and they were confident about it, but wanted to hear first hand experiences here!

So I will probably go ahead with it then. Thank you!
