Completing this week on our current house. Do we need to remove picture hooks from walls?

Opinion is divided on the subject.

Ideally you would remove them and fill (but not paint over) any holes. In reality if you’re not going to have the time/ inclination to fill then it is probably going to be better to leave them in situ.

Obviously if you have any really complicated rigging in place that is specific to an item you are not leaving behind as part if the sale then you should remove and make good.

Having moved several times in my life it’s never been a very big deal, as the chances are the new owners will be redecorating anyway, so long as you’re not leaving behind an unholy mess.

@jaundicedoutlook thanks.

It's a housing association buying our place and the house could do with a touch up of paint anyway so I think I'll just leave the hooks in then.
