Our house goes on the market in early Nov 2020. We get 2 offers - asking price and £5k above.
EA convinces us to take asking price as they have sold theirs and are further along plus £5k above is up for sale but no offers yet (high demand area). We go ok.
We find a house to buy come December so start moving things along even more. Stamp duty 31/3/21 on everyone’s mind in the chain to keep pressure on conveyancers etc.
We pay for surveys, electric tests, survey area, 2nd & 3rd viewings and keep an open dialogue with the nice house sellers of house we want.
The buyers of our house is a self employed builder who the EA advised not to open a dialogue with as he’s a ferocious controlling twat and let them handle all communication.
Keep chasing for an update his side :
Death in the family (step-someone)
His Solicitor not responding to messages
With his mortgage broker back and forth
Hasn’t been for 2nd viewing at all
No survey or checks or enquiries to us
Told he is laid back
Threw hissy fit at EA because she spoke to the wife not him
Told self employed harder to get mortgage but hasn’t been refused.
His own property had sold for £120k less than ours
His Mortgage broker is new and is inexperienced
Discover family members are buying his house
The whole chain is now ready to exchange and he hadn’t had his mortgage offer still despite 4 months now.
In a bullshit (nothings changed for weeks) call from our EA my DH demands we now put the house back on the market.
Should we wait it out and hope his mortgage offer comes through or find another buyer ?
