Removing a name from a right to buy house

Hi.

Hope everyone is keeping well and safe.

I bought my help to buy house with my mum and sister 4 years. My sister has since got married and moved out.

She would like to now buy a place with her husband but can't afford it without removing her name from my current house. My mortgage company are happy to remove her as I can afford the mortgage without her, but cause its a HTB apparently I need approval from HTB before I can remove her. When I rang HTB they said I need approval from my previous landlord. When I spoke to my previous landlord they said I need to speak to HTB and now refusing to reply to my emails.

Has anyone gone through the process of removing a name from HTB home and could you point me towards the correct procedure I should follow.

Thank you.

The only people you need to inform and get agreement from are your mortgage company and the HTB loan company. Your sister's name will be on both of those as she entered into an agreement with them.

I have no idea where your previous landlord comes into it?!

When I rang the HTB customer service and they advised I had to get approval in writing from them to take my sister off.

I'm probably being dense here but what has a landlord got to do with this situation? Landlord of what? If you own a house with HTB you own the title?

It's a old council house. So I'm guessing as they were my previous landlord I need their approval. I really don't know, that's what the RTB agent told me

Right to Buy or Help to Buy?

user88899 · 05/03/2021 14:32

Ah I'm guessing you don't mean HTB, that's different to RTB, sorry can't help I don't know anything about RTB, hope you get sorted!

Jaffacakeman · 05/03/2021 15:04

Really sorry. I meant RTB.

No need to apologise, if you report your thread admin can change the title to right to buy so people who know about that can help :)
