Vanity with 2 Tap Holes

Desperately trying to find a wood effect wall hung vanity unit 800w with a 2 tap hole basin...they don’t seem to exist anymore!

Tried Laufen, Crosswater, Gerberit, V&B and Vitra. Any other suggestions?

Closest match is this from Duravit, but the tap hole is weirdly off centre which is a no! www.duravit.co.uk/products/all_series/me_by_starck.com-en.html?product=2155614

Does anyone know how easy (or difficult) it is to actually drill tap holes through a ceramic basin? Is there a specific trade that does this?

Not an option to change the taps. Hoping someone can help as I’ve trawled for days!

I’ve just googled and found several companies with several options for two taps - Sanctuary Bathrooms, Victoria Plum, Nationwide Bathrooms - in various effects and sizes, but the basin in your link only has one tap hole, so am I missing something?

Sunisshining12 · 01/03/2021 16:02

On the link, if you click the variant: 2 tap hole or scroll across to the second image you will see the 2 tap hole option is off centre. I also posted the link to show example of basin.

I’ve tried VP. Are the options you’ve found wall hung wood effect? I’m looking on the websites now but still cant find any!

Ah, apologies, missed the wall hung part. There are several floor standing wood version but you’re right that wall hung ones seem strangely absent.

You can definitely buy two tap ceramic basin inserts for vanity units from all of those suppliers and others - is it an option to have a carpenter build you a vanity?

Sunisshining12 · 01/03/2021 16:14

@ComtesseDeSpair - That was my plan B, but annoyingly NONE of the above suppliers sell basins with 2 tap holes suitable for a vanity! (Only Duravit - which has one hole off centre) They are all 1 TH or none.

Plan C is to see if a Mumsnetter can help...

Plan D is to find someone (who?) to drill 2 tap holes in a blank basin.

I can buy a vanity drawer no problem...but no basin!

I would be reluctant to drill a ceramic basin as it might crack.

Will you be having a basin let into a worktop; or one that covers the whole top of the cupboard?

I found an 800mm to fit an understairs cloakroom, but it took a long time. I don't remember the make

there are plastic ones but they are rather shoddy.

As you can buy the basin separately from the cupboard, you don't need to worry about the cupboard worktop colour.

Sunisshining12 · 01/03/2021 19:48

@pigletjohn thanks - ideally wanted one that fills the whole top similar to above link. Had an undermount before with worktop & it was hard to keep clean.

Is there a particular trade that could drill it? Or somewhere

*somewhere I could take it to I wonder?

Separate taps seem to be someout out of favour in general and especially on modern design basins like you want. As PigletJohn says, drilling in ceramic is risky, but I guess it should be ok for gelcast/mineral marble etc. etc.? I'd check with a plumber/bathroom fitter. They often have to drill tap holes in baths (although that would be steel or acrylic).

EmmaGrundyForPM · 03/03/2021 02:49

I don't understand why you can't change the taps? Surely a mixer tap would be better?

Sunisshining12 · 03/03/2021 07:00

@EmmaGrundyForPM not if you’re disabled & need sensor taps they’re not.

Thanks everyone - tiler said drilling a ceramic sink isn’t that difficult with the correct tools & he often does so for kitchens so fingers crossed all goes to plan.

I am curious what you mean by ‘wood effect’ in the context of a sink?

Sunisshining12 · 03/03/2021 21:27

My OP does state wood effect vanity unit...so that would be the drawers/cupboard below wood effect.
