Have been waiting since last August. No chain, we're cash buyers. We made the huge error of packing non essentials, which have turned out to be relatively essential due to being packed away for months.

All our rooms look like lock ups due to boxes and no pictures or homely touches.

And the estate agent keeps telling us they'll let us know when they have news (waiting for 2 queries which they assure us have been expedited), but they never have news. Sellers have (allegedly) moved out.

Bollocks to it all.

Oh OP, it took our sale/purchase 6.5 months to go through and it was an empty property with only two in the chain. It's disheartening but you will get there and it will all soon be forgotten.
This made me glad I'm a last minute packer (although quite stressful at the time) but all the prep will be worth it and you'll be ready to go as soon as you can.

Give them an ultimatum date otherwise you pull out (and mean it).

Spickle · 01/03/2021 11:59

You need clarification from your solicitor as to exactly what these two queries are. When you know that, we can advise you much better without speculation. The EA won't know, they only go on what the solicitor may or may not tell them.

I do feel for you, there is no doubt that this has gone on longer than usual.

Thanks everyone.

I can't threaten to pull out as a building firm now own it, and they don't need the money and would just re advertise, it's peanuts to them and I love the house and don't want to lose it.

I will clarify what the queries are when we next speak to our solicitor. It's to do with Land Registry, and apparently there's a huge backlog, talking months. Their solicitor agreed to expedite.

I will never pack early again (if I ever bloody move again).

Definitely get on to your solicitor. Surely the Land registry is pretty straightforward and if it isn't then he/she needs to get on top of it.
I was a cash buyer about four years ago- seller desperate, clean survey, no other issues and it still took four months. I wasn't in a particular hurry otherwise I would certainly have asked for an explanation.

Sympathies OP. We have been waiting since July and I am utterly fed up with it. We’ve been waiting a month for the top of the chain to find a rental and there is radio silence from them which makes me fear that there is something going on and the chain will collapse.

We had something expedited to the Land Registry. It didn’t take that long, about 10 days or so until it was sorted out.
