Replacing Origin Bifold doors.

We really have not been happy with our bifolds or the poor service from Origin - so much for the 25 year guarantee, they have argued than our installer got it wrong - sadly our installer passed away and his company was dissolved. Local installers will only service a door if they installed it.
There is a gap in the door in winter when it's cold and in the summer they will barely close when it's hot. They are apparently designed with this expansion adjustment allowed for but it is not working for us.

That coupled with the rubber seals failing and again Origin won't supply new ones and who'd fit them anyway - we are going to need to replace the doors, I can't see another way out.

I need some recommendations of other companies who manufacture sliding glass or aluminum slim frame bifold doors for a 7 meter gap.

No recommendations but it sounds to me like you've been very unlucky, we have origin bifolds and windows and they've been brilliant. I know several other people who have them, also with no issues. Hope you get it sorted!

Try Schuco - German design - I saw Origin in the same showroom but I preferred the Schuco. Also Sunflex but they are more expensive.

I think our issue the large area we are covering (7 metres) and that we are south facing so the temperatures can be fairly extreme. When they were fitted there was expansion problems door wouldn;t close and Origin fitters came out to inspect and adjust the fit. I stupidly thought their guarantee meant something. It's really disappointing when something goes wrong and the manufacturer washes their hands off the problem. We'd pay for someone to fix them but can't even find someone to do that.

We have schuco across a 6 m gap. We chose them because of the frames were the slimmest we could find at the time. We are very happy with the, we did need to get the installer to come back and adjust them after a few weeks when they had settled. They said this might happen due to the weather, large expanse and extension settling. They have been fine since.

Can you claim on your buildings insurance? Ours covers failure and accidental damage to windows. We have aluk bifolds but they are very new so I can't comment on the durability. I read that it is the installer and fabricator rather than the manufacturer that is important in how well they will last.

I'm thinking of going for sliding doors next time and choosing the door with the least amount of metal - to limit expansion issues. Not having the bifold going out onto the patio will be a bonus too.
I don't think we are covered on our insurance for poor installation - and poor after sales support.
